500kW + 2.4MWh Energy Storage Project Exported to Ukraine

        Recently, a Ukrainian client partnered with Greensun on an energy storage system project, signing a contract for a 500kW + 2.4MWh energy storage system. This project is primarily designed for peak shaving and valley filling in industrial and commercial applications.

        The energy storage system is a DC-side energy storage unit with a rated capacity of 2.4 MWh, requiring an external 500kW energy storage converter (PCS) to form a complete energy storage power station.

         As a highly integrated energy storage unit, the system's overall performance parameters are as follows:

1.Rated energy storage capacity: 2.4 MWh. This means that under ideal conditions, the system can store and release 2.4 MWh of electrical energy at its rated power.

2.Rated power of the matching PCS: 500 kW. This is a key external device responsible for bidirectional conversion between DC and AC power, determining the system's instantaneous charge and discharge power capability.

3.System rated DC voltage range: 648V ~ 864V DC. This is the operating voltage window for the DC side of the system. The PCS must operate efficiently within this voltage range.

4.Number of battery clusters: 10 clusters. The system consists of 10 relatively independent battery clusters connected in parallel. This design facilitates system management, maintenance, and improves reliability.

 

         The high-voltage box, as the intermediate layer of the system, directly controls the power relays and collects current and total voltage data. Internally, it includes circuit breaker switches, protective relays, voltage and current acquisition modules, fuses, and other safety protection measures.

1. It has three levels of protection: relays, fuses, and DC circuit breakers, and also features relay adhesion detection.

2. It has a pre-charging circuit.

3. It has local protection for battery clusters.

4. It has a status feedback function for molded case circuit breakers.

5. The wiring of electrical components inside the high-voltage box is neat, aesthetically pleasing, and secure, with horizontal and vertical wiring and separation of strong and weak current.

6. It has sufficient mechanical strength to prevent deformation during transportation and installation.

7. It is resistant to sunlight and corrosion and has strong adhesion.

8. The high-voltage box undergoes rigorous quality control and functional testing before leaving the factory to ensure it is free of quality and functional issues.

 

         The DC combiner cabinet connects the battery clusters in parallel and outputs the current to the PCS (Bidirectional Converter), and supplies power to the BMS components within the system via the internal switching power supply. The control section provides AC power to the AC-using equipment within the battery container and provides uninterruptible power to the battery stack BMS via the internal UPS. It also integrates information on system self-consumption, indoor temperature and humidity, and fire safety status, uploading this information to the BMS system. As the system's main distribution cabinet, it can automatically or manually control emergency shutdown in the event of a fire or other emergency.

 

BMU Function Overview:

1. Real-time monitoring of individual battery voltage and temperature;

2. Real-time calculation of individual battery SOC and SOH;

3. The module features bidirectional active balancing, improving battery pack consistency and effectively extending battery life;

4. The module has dry contact output for on-site alarm or remote control;

5. The module has a CAN communication interface for real-time data and alarm information transmission, enabling remote monitoring of the battery pack;

6. Modular design for easy installation, use, and maintenance, with modules isolated from each other for high reliability.
