Recently, a 400 MW / 2400 MWh grid-side independent energy storage project in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, was successfully connected to the grid. This project employs a new generation of 7 MWh high-capacity energy storage systems equipped with 587 Ah high-capacity cells, making it one of the first GWh-level energy storage power stations in China to utilize 587 Ah cells.

Previously, in early December, CATL announced that its 587Ah high-capacity energy storage cells had shipped over 2 GWh, making it the first manufacturer in the industry to achieve gigawatt-hour-level shipments. Shipments are projected to reach 3 GWh by 2025, officially marking the beginning of large-scale commercialization.
This also marks the advent of the era of large-capacity energy storage cells exceeding 500Ah.
